PM Narendra Modi started the initial 5G service rollout in 13 cities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday officially launched the first phase of 5G services in 13 cities across India, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The launch took place during the four-day opening ceremony of India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022, the country's biggest tech festival.

 Additionally, Modi visited several IMC 2022 Expo booths. He put ColCom's new remotely controlled vehicle through its motion in minefields and combat zones.

 Consistent coverage, large data rates, low latency, and extremely reliable communications will all be made possible by 5G technology. Energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency and network efficiency will all increase, Modi tweeted. Ahead of the inauguration, Modi asked the youth, members of the startup community and technologists to enroll in this unique programme.

 Well-known cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad are expected to enjoy 5G services at the start of the first phase. According to Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, the government will expedite the implementation of the network, and customers will not pay more for 5G services.
The fifth generation of mobile communications networks, or 5G, is expected to offer significantly higher speeds and more application possibilities than 4G. It is anticipated that the deployment of 5G will accelerate the pace of cloud gaming, AR/VR, Internet of Things and other technologies. Many commercial use cases exist for 5G as well.
 As of now, India has 85 crore internet connections, up from 25 crore in 2014, according to Prime Minister Modi. Rural areas are connecting more people to the Internet. Users of all ages will be able to take advantage of the Internet and its possibilities for the bulk of 5G.
